Big City was my first ’tilt shift’ shot, but apparently a successful experiment. When I first posted this on flickr, the blog ‘chicagoist’ featured it the very next morning.

Ever since, there had been a steady stream of ’tilt shift’ fans checking out the image. The shot was from the 25th floor in the Hotel 71 on Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago.

One of my favorite sculptures downtown Indianapolis. It's been deserted, which is why I like it so much.

For some reason it reminds me of the Ukraine before Chernobyl and they had all this public art and sculpture.

Then the meltdown happened, and everything was left behind.  No body seems to remember them. I like the idea of forgotten public art.

I think I like this photo primarily because it wasn't staged. That's how I came across this on my parent's dining room table.

I wish I had a tripod, but I kind of like the subtle blur to keep the head 'off balance' so to speak. I couldn't have planned it better though.

This was a shot taken right before I headed to the loop for my car. For some reason, my camera was capturing really beautiful colors with just the sensor.

This was really not saturated at all, in fact I had to desaturate the yellow platform because it was competing too much with the orange and blue. All of those colors are as the camera captured it.

A lot of people have mentioned the perspective in this shot. I have to admit, I wasn't able to get what I was going for, I was just about 2 feet to the left more than I would have liked.

This shot will be the first in a long line of photos on this blog that will show a desolate urban area. Although, there are more people in this shot than I would like.

Traci just kind of glanced over and I snapped the picture. It's a mysterious smile, almost Mona Lisa'esque. She can capture the camera's attention well.
